September 2017

I can't believe September has already come and gone! This month started my peak season with everyone getting in their pictures while the weather is "cooler"  for Holiday cards so I didn't pull out my camera as much for the boys. However, a few days ago Landon was telling Rhett about the letters he was going to mail and it was just the cutest thing. Rhett thinks Landon is the greatest. Landon loves that he can "make Rhett's heart feel happy".  The third picture, the one of him stretching, kills me. It could just as easily be a picture of Landon at that age.

Gigi and Granddad came for a weekend visit. When I was newly pregnant with Rhett, I got really sick and my mom came to help me with Landon while Trip worked nights. Landon remembered how Gigi drew a puppy dog face on him from all those months ago. This time, he requested a cat face. He came downstairs beaming with pride over his "kitty cat face... with Gigi's makeup!

I took these next two of Landon while my parents were in town. We let Landon sleep in our room while my parents slept in his bed. He started out in his sleeping bag, but I woke up to this. He's always been a wild sleeper. Being the first one up has it's perks.

When I say Rhett could sit in his swing all day, I'm not kidding. I was getting all of my camera gear packed up for a session and I was struck by how the window was casting such pretty light on him. He just seemed so peaceful in the dark room.

The end of September means that Rhett is 3 months old. He's still a peanut - this onesie is a size 0-3 months. I did pack away all of his newborn size clothes, which were working really hard to start fastened due to his length. I know we are getting ready to enter such a fun phase of babbles, sitting up, playing, etc but I love the newborn phase so much. He's been such a great baby (already sleeping through the night and so happy!) that I wish I could freeze this phase.

July 2017

July was a full month! We transitioned from a family of 3 to 4, which is still weird to say. Landon loves his brother, but is acting out a little for attention. Breastfeeding is going well. I've made it farther than I did with Landon, and Rhett seems to be a lot better at it than Landon ever was.To be totally honest, I'm drained. Even though Rhett is sleeping decent stretches at night, it is tough having to wake up several times and then care for two kids + a house + a business all day.  I keep reminding myself this is just a session and will be over before I know it (and that actually makes me sad). It's amazing how much Rhett changed from the beginning of the month to the end. The last set of pictures in the crib are from his 1 month session. Landon picked out the giraffe as his present to Rhett in the hospital. I plan to use it for Rhett's monthly pictures to show his growth.

Flower Cake Smash | Charleston Birthday Photographer

The cake that was just too pretty to eat. Either that or she was totally grossed out by it. My husband and son didn't seem to have any problem with it.

River Family Session | Columbia, South Carolina | Columbia Family Photographer

Trip and I drove up to Columbia from Charleston to photograph his Aunt's family last weekend. It hadn't rained in Columbia in forever, but, as fate would have it, a huge thunderstorm threatened our session. We moved the meeting time up and hoped for the best. In true southern fashion, it was HOT and sunny. As we wrapped up on the bridge the thunder started rolling in the distance. By the time we pulled out of the parking lot it was a down pour. Talk about good luck!

The last series of pictures with the sisters will always make me laugh. We had to get creative to make sure pokemon go-ers weren't in the frame and I did end up having to photoshop a few out. Apparently there is a gym on this paved trail. That was a first for me.

Following Seas Photography is available to travel to Columbia, SC for maternity, lifestyle newborn, outdoor milestone and family picture sessions. Please contact me today to discuss your session.

Backyard Water Fun | Charleston Family Photographer

We celebrated Landon's birthday last weekend (a month late) with family and friends. When he opened this water toy, I knew it was going to be a huge hit. All I had to do was say "water" and this baby threw on his swimsuit and ran outside. Even old, lazy Millie got in on the action.

And then he waved the white flag and we were done. We are loving life back in the South. Landon loves all of the water - we've been doing swim lessons, going to the pool, the beach and now we are breaking out the backyard water toys. The photographer in me is loving East coast light.

Birthday Session | Downtown Charleston, SC | West Ashley Family Photographer

When it came time to take my baby's Birthday pictures, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. The Battery has to be one of my favorite places in the entire world. The architecture, the colors, the palmettos, the ocean... need I say more?

I have to admit, I'm pretty pleased with just how many images I ended with. If you know my son, you know he is W.I.L.D. Much of the session was spent singing B-I-N-G-O and eating M&Ms while chasing him down the cobblestone streets. At one point my husband looked at me and said, "Do you think you have anything?" Got to love the dads who work so hard to make sessions go well.

Landon has this photog-kid thing figured out. Give her a few quick smiles and she'll go away. We were trying every trick in our wheelhouse to get all of the locations I had in mind. After a few rounds of jumping off a box, climbing on fences and singing B-I-N-G-O, Landon looked at my husband and said "NEXTTTTT!!!"

He's everything a 2 year old should be - spunky, silly and a little naughty. Happy Birthday, buddy!

Happy Birthday, H! | Silverdale Cake Smash Photographer

Y'all, my last cake smash in Washington couldn't have been more perfect. When I took my first test shot with the background, I knew this was going to be one of my favorite smashes. The pinwheels, her birthday hat and bubble bath at the end... I don't know if it gets cuter than this.

If you saw the sneak peek, then you already know how her smash went. She loved her cake for about 5 minutes. Then she pulled off her necklace and tutu... and then she was done! Like, basically feel asleep on the floor done.

First Look: Milestone Session | Bremerton Child Photographer

She is sweet as can be and an excellent backward scooter. She was mostly quiet except when her big brother would crack her up. I've photographed this sweet girl from her first few moments on earth to now, 6 months. Oh, how I'll miss this family.

Rewind a few months. She was so sleepy for her newborn session. We did so many setups!

Rewind a few more days. She had daddy wrapped around her finger before she even opened her eyes.
