Hi, I'm Ashleigh.
Hey there! I’m Ashleigh Lauber. I’m a sucker for newborn yawns, toddler snuggles and lost-tooth smiles. If I’ve learned anything since becoming a mom it is that time moves too fast and babies don’t keep. It is my goal to give you images that instantly bring you back to that period of time with your child.
About my business.
I fell into the world of photography by chance. It was a cross-country move that warranted a "big camera" and the request of a friend that threw me into the world of family photography. I kept my day-job (HR) and operated as Ashleigh Lauber Photography on the weekends.
When I became pregnant with my son in 2013, documenting my pregnancy was very important to me. Before I knew it, he was turning one. It was his first year that inspired me to live my dream and become a full time photographer. I rebranded as Following Seas Photography and decided to focus on that fleeting season of life - the time from bump to birthday.
My style is simple, authentic photography. While I do take everyone-look-at-the-camera-and-smile pictures, I go crazy for mom snuggles and laughing kids. I like moments as they are - not what photoshop could make them.
"Fair Winds and Following Seas" is a nautical phrase of good luck or blessing as a person departs on a voyage in life. It is often used at a "beginning" ceremony such as a commissioning of a ship.
I've been married to my husband for 7 years. We have two boys - a wild five year old and a sweet (and increasingly wild) two year old who keeps me on my toes. My boys look so much alike... it's crazy!
My studio is located was Charleston (West Ashley), South Carolina. It's white and bright and gets some dreamy natural light. I do use a studio light for most newborn sessions. Please note that I do not currently have a studio space in Hawaii.
