Beach Boys | Folly Beach Photographer

A few weeks ago, I took the boys to the beach... by myself with the goal of taking pictures of Rhett with a sailboat. We loaded everything up and Rhett was happy as a clam in the wagon. I let Landon run around and play for a minute before getting Rhett ready. He freaked out the second his toes hit the sand. There was no way I was leaving the beach empty handed though. With lots of cuddles and some help from big brother, I was able to get my creativity fix.

Happy Second Birthday! | Charleston Child Photographer

I think this was my fourth session with this family. When we first started working together, we had to prop this little guy in a basket because he couldn't even sit yet. I'm pretty sure I hit my step count for the day after his session. We spent the morning running around Hampton Park looking at ducks, climbing light posts and sitting in oak trees. I love this family so much and it's been so fun to watch these kids grow up!

Americana Popsicle Session | Charleston Family Photographer

Want to know something really funny and SO #momlife? I wrote this blog post June 2016 and never published it. My baby is all grown and the field is full of houses, but there is no better time than the present to hit publish! Goodness gracious, y'all!

This session was a combination of two ideas. Remember a few weeks ago when I mentioned a field? This field is actually just a few cleared lots in the back of our neighborhood. Every day when I drove past it I just knew it was perfect for pictures. For weeks, I tried to take Landon out there but something always seemed to come up - a thunderstorm, a melt down...

At the same time, I had also wanted to take pictures of Landon eating ice cream or a popsicle. I mean, is there anything cuter (or more terrifying) than watching a toddler eat a treat? The only thing I couldn't figure out was how do I keep a popsicle cold in the crazy South Carolina heat?

BINGO! I'll take Landon out to the field!

And I kid you not. TWO days later they poured foundations, so my field is no more.

Ice Cream, horses and marsh - A very Charleston birthday session | Charleston Family Photographer

My son turned 4 in April so it was finally time to get his birthday pictures done. I couldn't settle on a location so I promised him a bunch of treats and we hit three charming spots.

Our first stop was the Market downtown for ice cream and horses.

Then we headed over to Mt. Pleasant. Our first stop was at the Pitt Street Bridge. After walking up and down the path, we had about 30 minutes left before the sun would set so we raced over to Shem Creek Park for a little dolphin watching.

It was such a good, classically Charleston, evening. And to all of my clients who feel bad about bribing their children in front of me. Let me just tell you, L had ice cream and a cookie for dinner.

What he wore:
L's first outfit was a simple cotton t-shirt from Baby Gap and a pair of khaki shorts from Target.
The lobster shirt is from J. Crew Factory and his red shorts are from Janie and Jack Outlet.

Woohoo! The weather is warming up, the flowers are blooming and I get to chase cute kids around again!

Donut date with my biggest little

I got brave and brought my camera to our donut date. This might have to become a thing... donut dates and taking my camera to "normal" places.

Sweet & Wild Duo | Folly Beach, SC mini session

I had quickly worked with this duo at a neighborhood event so I knew this Folly Beach family mini session was going to be fun. Before each session, I talk to parents about their children: Are they shy or outgoing? What types of things are they currently into? When I read mom's description of her kids, I knew I was in for a treat for this Folly Beach session!

Big Brother is calm, a great listener, and just downright sweet. He was such a little charmer.

Little Miss, well, I was pretty sure she was going to be the female version of my wild 3 year old and boy was she! Actually, their birthdays are only a few days apart! About 10 minutes into the session she was soaked with salt water from ringlet to toe.

I actually love working with kids with big personalities. They keep me on my toes, but I just love how they are fearless around me. This was truly one of those sessions that I didn't want to end.
