Sweet, sleepy baby | Charleston Newborn Photographer

After months of planning, his session finally arrived and he was a perfect little client! I can't wait to watch him grow this year!

Cobblestone Dancing | Charleston Family Session

Dancing on the cobblestone and lots of tickling - the BEST way to spend a Sunday evening.

Baby in a bucket | Charleston Newborn Photographer

It was no surprise when this family walked in with the most beautiful little girl. Their maternity session down at Folly Beach was my first beach session of the year and is still hard to top. E came in ready to go, but made sure to speak her mind about half way through the session. She's going to keep her parents on their toes! She loved this bucket though :)

Sunset after the storm | Folly Beach Maternity Photographer

I was so upset when I woke up to the sound of rain. This mom-to-be had booked her Folly Beach maternity session months in advance and I really wanted it to be the perfect night. Late morning, the sun came out and I was so hopeful the day would turn around. And that's when a nasty, black could rolled in. I checked the radar (a few dozen times), fired off an email and then waited.

The radar promised a clear sky over the beach, so I loaded up the car in the rain and started driving. Sure enough, the sky started to turn blue the closer to the beach I got. And, without fail, as soon as I parked the bottom dropped out.

BUT....

About the time the rain stopped, we started walking out to the beach with a "hope for the best" attitude. As we topped the sand hill we were met with a glorious view of the lighthouse and the most beautiful cotton-candy cloud sky. The evening just got better as the sun started to set. We laughed, dad danced, there was a peanut gallery of little boys playing at the beach offering their commentary on our session - it was just a fun night!

I am so thankful for this couple that drove through a thunderstorm for pictures with me. I think Folly Beach was showing off for them because it was one of the most beautiful nights I've ever seen.

Mommy and Me | Charleston Family Photographer

I first started working with this family when they were expecting this little girl. The mom was stunning during our Folly Beach session. Little Miss was a dream during her newborn session and was equally as precious for her sitter session. She's at the fun age of babbles, slow motion falls while trying to sit and flashing big smiles at silly noises. This is seriously one of my favorite ages. And how precious is she in her little smocked dress?

Ice Cream, horses and marsh - A very Charleston birthday session | Charleston Family Photographer

My son turned 4 in April so it was finally time to get his birthday pictures done. I couldn't settle on a location so I promised him a bunch of treats and we hit three charming spots.

Our first stop was the Market downtown for ice cream and horses.

Then we headed over to Mt. Pleasant. Our first stop was at the Pitt Street Bridge. After walking up and down the path, we had about 30 minutes left before the sun would set so we raced over to Shem Creek Park for a little dolphin watching.

It was such a good, classically Charleston, evening. And to all of my clients who feel bad about bribing their children in front of me. Let me just tell you, L had ice cream and a cookie for dinner.

What he wore:
L's first outfit was a simple cotton t-shirt from Baby Gap and a pair of khaki shorts from Target.
The lobster shirt is from J. Crew Factory and his red shorts are from Janie and Jack Outlet.

I thoroughly enjoyed a morning with these two brothers...I'm sure they enjoyed their cake for breakfast too!
