Family Session in Silverdale, Washington

This is the blog post I didn't want to write. You see, this is a blog post for the session Pam always said she and Kyle needed to do before they left Washington. We did the session earlier this week so you know what that means.

I first met Pam at a 1 year old's birthday party a few months after we moved to Bremerton, WA. Our meeting was a little like fate because neither of us even had kids - we were both friends of the mom. We got to talking and we quickly realized we were both from the east coast, then both from Georgia and then from the same county. In fact, we grew up just miles apart. Crazy, right?!?

In the years since that first meeting, Kyle and Pam have become some of our closest friends. They are two of the kindest people you'll ever meet. They love on people and their love for each other shines.

The time has come for Kyle to hang up his cover and stay on dry land for a long while. I know they've been waiting for this day for a long time. While I'm so sad to see them go, I cannot wait to watch this next season of life unfold for them.

Monkey Cake Smash in Bremerton, WA

Let's be real. When a baby turns one, it's a pretty big accomplishment for the parents. I asked Michelle, this little monkey's momma, what her biggest accomplishment was so far as a mom and I loved her answer: Surviving the first year. So yes, cake smashes are a fun way to capture your baby's first taste of cake, but it is also a celebration of you!

I asked Michelle some questions about her first year as a mom, and I loved her honesty. I think we can all relate to stale Cheerios in the high chair and defining acceptable days as everyone staying in one piece. Way to go Michelle! You've raised an adorable little girl (who sure did love her cake smash)!

What is your biggest accomplishment as a mom?

"Surviving the first year? Seriously though, I probably feel most successful about breast feeding for a year. And that about 90% of the time she is a generally happy baby."

What are some lessons you've learned since becoming a parent?

"Some things just aren't worth stressing about. She's gonna eat a Cheerio that's been hiding in the high chair for a month and she is gonna bump her head sometimes... But at the end of the day as long as we are all alive and in one piece, it's most likely an acceptable day!!"

In 20 years, what do you hope your children will say about you?

"That I did all I could to make sure they were happy. And that they know I wasn't just being mean for no reason when they get punished."

Why are family photos important to you?

"They showcase ever-changing life situations and are great keepsakes to show time moving along."

Michelle,
Thank you for choosing me to capture V's cake smash. She is a happy and joyful child and that is a true reflection of her parents. Here's to year #2 and of course, cake!

Non-traditional smash sessions in Bremerton, WA

First birthday cake smashes are some of my favorite sessions. Watching a baby enjoy a cake with no rules is the best! Icing smeared from ear to ear. Fingers and toes covered. Swoon!

You can imagine how excited I was for my son to turn one. I had everything planned out. It was going to be great. He was going to go crazy. Probably even stick his face in the cake. Did that happen? No. Not even close. Even though I created a beautiful (and funny) gallery, I'll always remember his look of disgust.

One day Landon was eating a special treat - a powdered donut. I should clarify. By eating, I mean going to town. That's when the light bulb went off. I should totally do a donut smash. And when your mommy is a photographer, you have a donut smash the next day!

I couldn't be more thrilled with how these turned out!

Maternity Session in Silverdale, WA

If I told you this mom gave birth to a full term baby a week later, would you believe me? Well, it's true. Doesn't she look incredible? I was so happy our schedules aligned so we could get in a session before the big day.

By the water | Maternity Session | Silverdale, WA

Old Mill Park in Silverdale is one of my favorite locations in the area. Especially at this time of the year when the grass is turning green, the sky is blue and the water is still. It's just so peaceful.

Momma B is due with her first child this summer. Despite wearing blue, she is waiting until the big day to find out the gender.

Princess Birthday Session in Bremerton, WA

When I first start working with a new client, I'll always ask them about their children. What do they like? What is their favorite color? Toy? Game?

When I found out this little girl insisted on wearing her Sleeping Beauty dress to her Birthday dinner, I knew we had to go for a super girly, princess themed session. I love how soft and light the session turned out. Don't you want to get in there and twirl in your tulle skirt? Just me? :)

Ready to book your personalized session? Don't wait! You're kids won't be this little forever! Let's chat about your session today!

Little Lace Dress | Family Photography | Silverdale, WA

I like to have clothing options in my "pretty closet" for my clients. I'm a momma to a boy so I am a sucker for the chance to buy a beautiful dress. When I saw this little ivory lace dress online, I quickly added it to my cart without a second thought. I couldn't be happier with the way it photographs. And this little lady... could she be any cuter?

Mommy & Me | Family Photography | Bremerton, WA

I love Mommy and Me sessions because mom is usually behind the camera. There is just something magical about watching a mom play with her children. Their little eyes light up and hearing giggles... sigh. Childhood is so fleeting.

You might recognize this family from their maternity family session last fall. I was so happy they came back for a Mommy & Me Session.

Mom picked the location - a local park with amazing views if you're willing to drive a zig-zag road down to the water. I must say, it was quiet worth it! As soon as I made it to the parking lot, I spotted this little patch of grass where the sun was sparkling through the trees. After we spent a few minutes making wishes in the grass, we headed toward the water to see "the powerful waves." The tide was too high to go down to the water which was a bummer because we couldn't walk around the bend to see Mt. Rainier. The girls did have fun climbing on the rails of the pier. Little Miss A was so careful to put her clip on her dress for safe keeping and was devastated  when her clip fell off her dress into the water. Poor little thing was so upset. After A and her mom had a moment to discuss the fish with a beautiful clip on her head, A was back to her crazy self in no time. Don't you just love 4 year olds?

Thank you for allowing me to be your family and maternity photographer in Bremerton, WA.

Happy Birthday, Landon | Cake Smash | Bremerton, WA

Cake smashes are quickly becoming one of my  favorite types of sessions. I love the creative freedom of designing a colorful set. This session was extra special because it was for MY little man. I decided to go with a nautical theme. I was going to do whales, but saw a sailboat cake on Pinterest and was sold.

Landon didn't actually enjoy the cake as much as I'd hoped, but I was able to create a gallery that I love.
